DAY 1
Arrive at the airport in Antananarivo and transfer to the City where you will overnight at a nice hotel.  "Tana" (as Antananarivo is know to the locals) is a colourful, bustling city boasting cobbled streets, marvelous French cuisine and lively markets packed with local crafts. Tana is situated in the central part of the island on the slopes of a rocky ridge that rises to 1,248 metres (4,094 feet). The city is the chief economic, cultural and administrative centre of the country. It is the trade centre for a rice-growing region, and industries here manufacture processed food, tobacco products, textiles and leather goods. The city was founded as a fortress in the early 17th century by the Merina rulers who made it their chief residence in the 1790s. Their large palace still overlooks the city. The French captured the city in 1895 and it became the capital. It continued as capital when the country achieved independence in 1960. The city was known as Tananarive until 1977.The remainder of the day will be at your leisure to enjoy all there is to offer in this vibrant city.

DAY 4
Visit the park in the morning and then drive via Antananarivo to Antsirabe where you will book into a hotel.  In Antsirabe, you can relax for a while after the drive or you can explore the beautiful town by your self with a rickshaw or on foot.

DAY 5
In the morning visit the beautiful lake Andrakiba where you might take a 20-minute horse ride around the lake or simply walk around in the shade of the trees or visit the open market for the precious stones on the side of the lake.  Following this you will then drive to Ranomafana National Park via Ambositra, the centre for Malagasy hand sculptured wooden craft work. There are many shops here where you can browse for souvenirs. Then continue up to the rain forest at Ranomafana National Park where you will check into a nice hotel.

DAY 6
After breakfast a guide will take you into the lush rainforest. The forest is located right in the mountains so be prepared for steep hills and wonderful views. The forest is home to a lot of weird and wonderful wildlife so be sure to bring your camera. Relax by the roaring Rian-drano Be, the biggest and most spectacular waterfall in Madagascar.  Then cool off after your walk in the natural hot springs that come from the rock to form a secret swimming pool.  In the afternoon it is possible to visit the village on your own. At 5.30pm go with your driver to the gate of the park to find a local guide who will conduct a night walk. This is a really unique way of exploring the many nocturnal wonders of the forest and to see the nocturnal animals.
DAY 7
Leave Ranomafana Park after breakfast and continue on to Ambalavao where you can visit the Antaimoro paper which is Arabian Paper made from the bark of trees.  Here you can watch and learn how they make famous Antaimoro paper using colourful flowers. There is also a shop where you can buy the finished products.

DAY 8
Spend the entire range in the park with a local guide where you can see Maki lemurs, Verraux’sifaka lemurs, large chameleons and unusual plants only found in Madagascar.  There is also a natural swimming pool, wind eroded rocks with spectacular shapes, archeological finds and ancient tribal burial caves.

Continue on to Anja Park where you will stop for a 2-hour guided walk. This rocky park is the best place to see the ring tail lemurs in their natural environment. These friendly animals, although wild, are easy to spot. After the park your journey continues through a range of spectacular mountains to arrive at Isalo Park where you are free to relax for the rest of the day.
DAY 2
Spend the day exploring this fascinating city.
In the morning a city tour with a local guide and the afternoon is free to explore the city on your own.


DAY 3
After breakfast you start with your first day on the road traveling east 142 kms, through spectacular scenery on you way to Perinet National Park, passing through local villages and stopping en route to see the wildlife. You will stop for 1 or 2 hours to visit the Reptile and Insect Reserve of Peyrieras half way to Perinet . This is quiet reserve hidden in the jungle, where your guide will take you on a walk around the reserve explaining everything you see that will include many species of beautiful butterflies and moths plus different species of chameleons. There are also giant centipedes, pill bugs, crocodiles, geckos, and frogs.  Continue on to the Park which covers an area of 12 810 hectares of dense primary rainforest and whose main attractions are the two lakes, Lac Vert and Lac Rouge. Perinet is home to a large variety of rare rainforest animals - 11 species of lemurs including the baboon-sized Indri, the biggest of the Lemurs, big chameleons and the blue boa., along with a large variety of birds and reptiles. In the afternoon visit the lemur island situated near Vakona Lodge. This is very special reserve where you can play and touch lemurs and close up photography is guaranteed.

14 Days Southern & West  Madagascar
DAY 9
Drive from Isalo Park to Tulear.  On the way, you can stop to see some traditional tombs of the Mahafaly and Antandroy tribes. Each grave is decorated to tell the story of the person’s life with drawings and animal heads. When you arrive in Tulear you are free to relax or wander around.
DAY 10
Transfer from the hotel to the airport and catch a flight from Tulear to Morondava where you will be met by a driver and driven with a 4WD vehicle to the Kirindry Forest stopping to view the baobab trees en route.  You will camp out for the night but can eat dinner at the local restaurant.  At 1800 there will be a night walk in search of fosa (wild cat).  This is a really unique way of exploring the many nocturnal wonders of the forest.


DAY 11
Return to the park with a local guide drive before driving on to Tsingy de Bemaraha Park. When you arrive you can relax for the rest of the day in your hotel in the village of Bekopaka, which will be your base for exploring both the Grand and Petit Tsingy. This region is famed for having 10 months a year of dry sunny weather giving it the best climate in Madagascar.

DAY 12
After your hotel breakfast, you and a local guide will spend the day trekking through Tsingy National Park.  Tsingy means needles in Malagasy and you will see why when you see this vast forest of rugged and eroded rocks. This area, once an ocean can only be described as a scene from another world.  The rock formations, some several hundred meters high, have been made by a combination of water and later wind erosion. After you are finished exploring you will hike back to your hotel where you are free to relax.


DAY 13
After breakfast, you will drive from Tsingy Park  through Beloa-sur-Tsiribihina and then back to Morondava . On the way you will pass the tombs of the Sakalava tribe tombs which are famous for the very unusual paintings and carvings that decorate the exteriors. The decorations are mainly of an erotic nature included male and female sexual organs.
Around 5 pm you will stop to watch the sun set at the famous Baobab Alley. This is the best time photograph the trees as their colours change and their long shadows are most pronounced. On arrival at Marondava you will check into your hotel for the night.

DAY 14
Transfer from the hotel to the airport for your return flight to Tana to connect with your flight home.


It is possible to extend your trip by 2 days to visit Sainte Marie Island.
